Death to all the Imperialists

North Korean Disney

As the title says death to all the imperialists, except Mickey and Minnie of course. North Korea is a complex country isn't it?

I think that we would have better diplomatic relations with North Korea if we appointed Mickey as an Ambassador or even Sec of State! And before you scoff at the idea, look at all of the idiot movie and pop stars who these days are Good Will Ambassadors for the UN.

Between you and me, I have a feeling that Ange Jolie uses her Ambassadorship to travel the world looking for children to adopt and the ever greedy tax dodger and big mouth Bono just to get richer. That's only a feeling mind you because these new Ambassador types are a bit litigious and of course hate being criticised, gulp!

Worshipping Pork in Hungary

Sometime ago I visited Budapest for a long weekend and quite frankly it was dreadful! The Hungarians are awfully rude, the place was dirty and in my humble opinion vastly over rated.

If you asked me to give Budapest a star rating I wouldn't be able to give it any sadly and that is saying something because I have been to some slums of countries in my time.

Still putting all that aside for the moment I'd like to share this little menu with you. There should be prizes for guessing what the clowns meant! Maybe we should give away a "Grill meat tower worship?"

Wine that's a winner!

Wine thats a winner

It's obvious that Americans know a great wine when they taste it! Though I have to say I can take or leave Merlot myself!

Can't say I'm a great fan of booze in any form (not something you admit to out loud in the beer drinking capital of the world the Czech republic where booze is extremely cheap too) however I have an allergy to snow, it's called a "cold" I believe and at night I have been experimenting with various ingredients for a Hot Toddy.

The best booze ingredient by far is Mount Gay Eclipse Barbadian Rum with the usually incidental ingredients, it knocks you out completely and you sleep for 10 hours without a problem and no side effects.

Mount Gay Eclipse

I would also recommend Tullamore D.E.W. which being an Irish Whiskey is a little disappointing on its own, but add it to hot lemon and sugar (I think honey spoils the taste) and wow what a nice flavour! It will only enable you to sleep for a few hours on one glass, but maybe that's because you want to get up in the middle of the night, and then again at dawn, for a refill!

Tullmore

Lastly recently I added that 'interesting' fire water Metaxa as a basis for a Hot Toddy I used a seven star one from a "Metaxa Amphora" which oddly enough looks like a glass bottle shaped like an Amphora, I can't tell you how disappointed I was that it wasn't actually an Amphora! Anyway as with the other Toddies above I used a regulation amount of booze, which I believe is based on tipping a moderate amount into a glass and then having someone jog your elbow and splash in so much more.

Brandy met2

What can I say! I almost broke my Mount Gay sleeping record and was complete dead to the world for hours, I even felt better when I woke up, sadly I am sniffing and sneezing once again and after I finish this little blog I will be perusing the drinks cupboard to see what I can glug into a Toddy glass later.

I don't think I'm brave enough to mix Metaxa and Mount Gay together in a Toddy Glass and doubt that there would be much room for the other ingredients, but if I do, and survive, I'll tell you all about it later! Hick!

I though I would give all the folks who don't know how to make a Hot Toddy my recipe. It is very simple. Take a glass, add a sachet of Lemon Cold Powder Beechams make a nice one called 'Lemsip,' then add two teaspoons of sugar, a bit of real unwaxed Lemon if you have it to hand or at 11.00 at night can be bothered to take it out of the fridge, cut it, put the rest back and drop it into your glass. Then add the booze of your choice using the method above, and if you don't have a pal to nudge you or they nudge you and not enough splurges out add more booze (you want to sleep don't you?). Then, and this is important put a metal teaspoon into the glass and rest it on the side, this for some reason beyond me stops the glass shattering when you add boiling water. Add boiling water. Paws crossed the glass doesn't shatter!

For those of you who want a proper recipe here is one from Epicurious.com.

Yield Makes 1 drink

Active Time 5 min

Total Time 10 min

Ingredients

1 oz (2 tablespoons) bourbon

1 tablespoon mild honey

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

1/4 cup boiling-hot water

Preparation

Put bourbon, honey, and lemon juice in a 6-ounce mug. Top off with hot water and stir until honey is dissolved.

All a little too technical of me, ugh! the y use Honey and what is a 'cup' for goodness sake! But I am sure that a lot of my dear cuddly readers will enjoy it and if it makes you feel better when you are ill then that's great.

Get well soon!

Taking bribes!

When does an artist sell out? That's what I asked myself today as I started this blog. And I have a feeling my answer is going to be, "in the off season."

Let me explain a little, "god forbid I give you the whole truth," who said that?

I received some fan mail from a er... um... ah! Fan. It happens when you are famous, good looking and rich and almost always I deal with the emails and letters personally, my bodyguards deal with them when they appear in person of course!

This letter was very nice and as it came from my old home country, (which I was forced to leave, well it was either me or the royal family and they are onto such a good con there they're unlikely to ever leave) for a republic. My American readers will understand why I did that. Just look how well the US did after they kicked out the sovereign who had held them back so dreadfully.

The letter contained the usual stuff, words like handsome, talented, masterpiece jumped off the page flattering as they went. Then there was a bit about liking Cats as if that has to be stated, everyone does don't they?

The correspondent went on to explain that they ran a Cat hotel in Buckinghamshire which I thought was a nice idea.

So I wrote back and as I wrote I became a little nostalgic for the things an expat misses, Dust free Cat litter, Black Pudding, I mentioned that only because that day I had read somewhere that it had been, quite rightly, Black Pudding had been hailed a superfood, and a few other things including Cadbury's chocolate, or if ! didn't mention that I should have!

Low and behold today I received another nice letter with some pictures of the Cat hotel and an inducement. The author asked when I was next in England and invited me to stay at the Cat hotel and be provide for and provisioned with the most amazing comfort and extra grand goodies. All I had to do, and here I refer to the first sentence above, is to write a little blog after the visit.

So I suppose the answer to my original question is definitely this artist sells out in the off season! Hang on that sounds a little too cheap!

Still the hotel is worth a mention the place looks lovely and being a Cat who is by far and away too clever for his boots I thought I would mention it twice. Now and after I have had a visit. That way I should get two complimentary stays tee hee! I wonder if it will be better that Mrs. O'Reilly's which my avid fans will remember is where I stayed when the floods came!

The nice lady, Emma, at Longcroft, sorry can't do the Cat's ears over the 'g' sent me a few pictures and I thought in the interests of being upgraded to the hotel's Penthouse I would share them with you!

Cat Hotel 2

I rather fancy the room with the Hydrangea, (pink flower on the table for those without green paws). Imagine the mess that'll make when it's 'accidentally' shoved off the table, if it isn't too heavy of course.

Cat Hotel 1

Lastly here is the all important contact information I expect if you mention this blog you'll get a complimentary copy of one of my books, expect nothing less!

Longcroft
